Rehearsal 15th May

Hi All,

Just a reminder that we will be rehearsing the final movement of the Handel Dixit Dominus in the last part of tomorrow’s rehearsal, so you will need to bring your score.  (If you’re not singing on Saturday you will be able to leave early tomorrow night!)

Please also listen to the full piece, either using the John Fletcher note-bashing site or a recording, with the score in front of you a couple of times between now and Saturday afternoon!

Many thanks

Rosemary

Homework 9th May

Dear All

Rehearsal tapes – please start listening to these:

[Edit: I’m sending you links Jess has found for recordings of all of the repertoire for the July concert. ]

All of the pieces except for the Muhly are also on the John Fletcher site: http://www.johnfletchermusic.org/

Please refresh your memory of the Handel by listening to it with the score, ideally ahead of Tuesday evening when Jess will run through the final movement in the last part of the rehearsal.  (Those of you who are not singing in this concert will be free to leave at this point).  Please don’t forget your Handel score on Tuesday!

Best wishes

Homework 8-14 March

Dear All,

Well done from Jo on a very encouraging rehearsal last night.  She would like you to do two separate homework tasks this week:

  1. Go over the movements we covered last night to make sure that you’ve really nailed your own tricky corners (a good idea to do this in the next day or two while last night is fresh in our minds!).
  2. Have a really good look at the movements we will be covering next week:
  • Handel – Tu es Sacerdos, Dominus a dextris p61-72, De torrente (men)
  • Vivaldi – Juravit Dominus, Implebit

If you missed last night, please try to arrive early next week and get score markings from a neighbour in your voice part.  Thanks.

Have a good week.

Best wishes

Homework for rehearsal 28th Feb

Dear all

Thanks for another invigorating rehearsal and well done with all the hard work you are putting in.  My brief is to make sure the Handel notes are known by the time Jo takes over.  We have one more rehearsal to achieve that.

Last week we covered the following:

  • Vivaldi (with Graham)
  • Final movement – thorough notebash
  • Handel (with me)
  • Et in saecula from p86 b55 to the end, very thoroughly
  • Conquassabit from p69 b210 to the end, including work on articulation which you MUST copy from someone who was there if you missed it

Then we went back to the beginning and revised:

  • Dixit p2 b18 to the end
  • Juravit p30 b1 to the end including how to find the notes in b1 and b 22 – it is essential that you all work on this
  • We sang the first few bars of Tu es sacerdos p37 and worked on finding the notes

Next week we will start on p37 and hopefully get to the end of the whole piece before anyone dies of a broken larynx, and before I say farewell….
