for East London Chorus and Haven House Children’s Hospice
The sponsored swim in aid of ELC and Haven House exceeded our wildest ambitions by raising – to date – a total of £1,400 for ELC and (together with the bucket collections at our July and November concerts and the proceeds from the Trafalgar Square carol singing) well over £1000 for Haven House.
Many thanks to swimmers and sponsors.
Could you swim the Channel in aid of East London Chorus and Haven House Children’s Hospice? Don’t panic – you don’t need to do this in one go!The idea is to commit to one of the following options, either individually or as a team, and raise money for two great causes over a twelve-week period.
Find out how to take part or to sponsor one or more of our swimmers and help us to achieve our target of raising a £1,000.
To achieve the challenge, you need to clock up 22 miles/36 km by tracking lengths in your local pool, either individually or as a team, and raise money for two great causes over a twelve-week period. That’s just 3 km per week for the length of the challenge, or 120 lengths if you swim in a typical 25 m pool.
How will the funds you raise benefit these two great charities?
East London Chorus receives no public funding and depends on our supporters’ generosity to fulfil our aims of inspiring amateur singers to perform choral works to the highest standards, bringing choral music to a wider audience at affordable prices, encouraging young singers to experience the enjoyment of choral singing and keeping the tradition and art of choral singing alive for future generations.
Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green provides care for children and young people aged from birth to 19 years old who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and supports their families. East London Chorus is a proud supporter of the hospice and has been fundraising for its work through retiring collections at its concerts since the start of the 2016-17 season.
Every pound we raise through this challenge will help East London Chorus to keep our membership fees at an affordable level and ensure that we can continue to perform with exceptional young professional musicians and help Haven House Children’s Hospice towards its aim of supporting 500 children a year by 2020.
